The US Federal Communications Commission added foreign-produced advanced robotic devices to its Covered List. The rule covers humanoids, quadrupeds and autonomous mobile robots over 4.4 lb with sensors, connectivity and autonomy software, made in any country.

New models need a conditional approval before they can receive FCC authorisation. Fixed industrial robots and medical robots are excluded, and devices with at least 65% US content are exempt, rising to 70% by 2029.

Malaysian companies building mobile robots for export should plan around this rule.
